# George Chakravarthi

# link: http://www.georgechakravarthi.co.uk

# created 2007

# George Chakravarthi is an artist. Visual arts, live arts,
illustration, photography, installations. We created a simple
clean site easy to navigate and friendly...

Chakravarthi considers much of his work to be a series of self portraits. As a multi-disciplinary artist he draws inspiration from cinema, art history, public and private spaces, and from collective social histories. Chakravarthi engages the viewer with his honest exploration of universal emotions. Using experiences from his own life, he often reveals painful situations, memories and experiences with an acute sensibility, cogent perceptions and generous humanity.

# Shunt Lounge

# link: http://www.shunt.co.uk

# created 2007

# The SHUNT LOUNGE is a members' bar, deep in the tunnels under
London Bridge Station.
Open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Doors open from 6 PM
to 11 PM (but once inside the bar is open late).
Each week will be curated by a different Shunt artist. Some will fill
the space with nonstop entertainment, some will do next to nothing.
Fortunately the bar staff are more reliable.

Shunt is a collective of 10 artists creating large-scale performance
events in unexpected, abandoned or derelict buildings throughout
London.

Wellcome to the world of cardboard! Shunt ask for a very unique
website that combines the crafty world of cardboard with a demanding
site where they can update weekly events and galleries, have audience
registered to newsletter and database, selling online tickets and more…

We are currently fitting the anarchic design to Drupal, making this a
very a[trac]ctive website.

Keep an eye on it!

# Alejandra Rubies

# link: http://www.alejandrarubies.com

# created 2007

# Alejandra (AKA Sandra) Rubies is a multitalented artist specialised in
creating beautiful imagery. Drawings, paintings, tiles, installations,
photos… Alejandra wanted a site that represented her universe without
having to explain it in words. She wanted her work to talk by itself.

We decide not to have a navigation bar, but a radial mosaic of thumbnails opening galleries. With a simple, clean and effective design, we let her art to take central stage in this online Art Gallery that is her site.

Just a joy to watch!

# Campbell Works

# link: http://www.campbellworks.org

# created 2005

# “Campbell Works initiates and runs creative arts projects, fostering the development and curation of new ventures with artists, writers, scientists and creative practitioners of all disciplines.
Run by artists Neil Taylor and Harriet Murray, embracing a collaborative approach to artistic practice, Campbell Works acts as a meeting point for ideas and aims to explore contextual relationships between art, spaces and people.
Campbell Works particularly supports projects that explore ways to communicate with audiences, acting as a space to meet, generate ideas and further collaborations.”

Campbell Works are artists, it’s a studio, a gallery, they do education projects and run ‘ArtInIt’ magazine. We needed to create a complex navigation system that was easy to follow.
Because they do basically visual art, we keep the page very clean, providing a white canvas for the artist’s works.

Evolving together with the project (and the development of the internet) we are currently designing the next version of Campbell Works site, making it simpler but facilitating more complex online
projects and participation at the same time…

Keep coming back to it!

# IMF

# link: http://www.imfmusic.org

# created 2005

# Islington Music Forum is a Charity providing music services across the London borough of Islington in both mental health settings and within mainstream arts venues.

Islington Music Forum was founded in November 1998 setting up
an acoustic music club in response to a demand from mental health
service users for music activities within mental health day centres.

This website is dedicated to people who love music and the arts and want to get more involved in Islington's creative community.

They wanted a clear website very easy to read and navigate.
Given the nature of the IMF users, access was a priority.
We did make sure that the site was easy to download, viewable in all browsers and monitor sizes, and the text easy to read.

By the way, they win an award for their fantastic musical Sardines!

# Completely Naked

# link: http://www.completelynaked.co.uk

# created: 2000

# new php version coming really soon

# This is the website of Completely Naked artistic partnership.
Completely Naked is a visual arts initiative created by London based founders, Claire Ward-Thornton and Pau Ros in November 1999.

CN explores representations of the human body and challenge social boundaries around personal identity. The work combines an interest in culture, psychology and communication with design by engaging public audiences in exciting methods of interactivity and art.

The projects often raise challenging questions and inspire extraordinary responses from a diverse community of artists and non artists alike. The work aims to be inclusive and connects us with a network of visual happy people!

By maintaining a strong human aspect to the ideas, CN create interactive environments which invite the audience to freely express their personal interpretation of a simple but provocative concept.

CN applies predominantly time based media, photography and video to actual and virtual spaces. The internet has provided an exciting, exploratory space to curate online galleriesof submitted work.

# MissMao

# link: http://www.missmao.co.uk

# created 2006

# Never thought of creating a site just for an event? MissMao was an exhibition curated in a private house by Helen Marshall in collaboration within Chinese and British artists.

The catalyst for the show, the Gao Brother’s ‘MissMao’, was seen here for the first time outside China. ‘MissMao’ is one of a series of red, silver, gold and white idols originally made in mud before being cast in fibreglass, and ranges in size from 2-20 feet high. Prior to its journey to Europe, it was shrouded in sack-cloth to avoid confiscation during police inspections. In fact, until 2003 the Gao Brothers themselves were on a government blacklist and unable to leave China. In recent years, Gao Zhen, 50, and Gao Qiang, 44, both from Shandong Province, are part of a new wave of Chinese artists showing at an international level.

We created this site as a promo for the event and also as a showcase
and as a debate fuelling amongst the artists from both countries.

The show, planned to go to China was cancelled due censorship laws in this country.

The site remains…

# INTIMACY (human people)

# link: new site coming soon!
Old site http://www.completelynaked.co.uk/intimacy.htm

# project created in 2005 in Completely Naked site.
New independent site coming soon.

This is s a project questioning the meaning of being a photographer
today and how our visions of intimacy have changed.

Perhaps nowhere so obviously as in the visual depiction of intimacy
have the boundaries between art and entertainment have eroded.
The question is: what defines intimacy in the 21st century.

Today everybody has a camera and access to the internet; images of highly personal, intimate moments have become part of our everyday.

With Completely Naked latest project, 'INTIMACY (human people)',
the boundaries between photographer and performer/model and
reality/ fiction becomes completely blurred.

Completely Naked has been inviting selected photographers around
the world to submit images in the online galleries that, according to them, portray intimacy.

All these photographers have in common a new approach to photography and how they look around themselves and at their intimacy, becoming somehow part of an un-scripted movement.

What started as a research became a huge online success and the galleries didn't stopped growing; more than 100 photographers submitted more than 500 images!

We thought that it will be very interesting to materialize these virtual galleries in an on-site exhibition breaking the so convenient but so fastidious unreality of the net. Becoming a physical object, both the meaning of photography and intimacy takes a very different reality.

The exhibition in London was from the 10th to the 30th November 2005 at Campbell Works. (see images of the opening here)

Now we want to launch an independent active website featuring the project and consolidating it on the net…
